Hayleys Solar Inaugurates Two Kosgama Projects with Combined Capacity of 5 MW

COLOMBO, November 3, 2026 — Hayleys Solar has inaugurated two ground-mounted solar power projects in Kosgama with a combined capacity of 5 MW, expanding its renewable energy developments while introducing a community initiative focused on sustainable livelihoods.
According to a Facebook announcement by the company, the projects comprise the 2 MW Kosgama I facility and the 3 MW Kosgama II facility.
Together, the installations feature 10,790 solar panels and are expected to generate approximately 9.9 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. Hayleys Solar estimates that the projects will offset around 6,930 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
Alongside electricity generation, the company said its “Hive for the Future” initiative aims to create livelihood opportunities through beekeeping while supporting biodiversity and pollinator conservation.
Hayleys Solar said the developments involved overcoming complex engineering challenges while preserving the natural landscape and supporting surrounding communities.
The company presented the projects as part of its broader approach to combining renewable energy generation with environmental protection and community development.
