President to Open Sri Lanka Economic and Investment Summit 2026 as Focus Shifts to Growth and Investment

COLOMBO, October 12, 2026 — President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is scheduled to inaugurate the Sri Lanka Economic & Investment Summit 2026 today at Shangri-La Colombo, bringing together policymakers, business leaders and international experts to discuss investment opportunities, economic reforms and the next phase of the country’s recovery.
Organised by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, the two-day summit, running from October 12 to 13, will focus on positioning Sri Lanka for sustainable growth amid changing global economic conditions, with particular emphasis on attracting investment, strengthening regional trade and diversifying economic activity.
Held under the theme “Positioning Sri Lanka in a Changing Global Economy: Resilience, Reform, and the Future of Economic Policy,” the summit comes as the country seeks to move beyond economic stabilisation towards stronger private-sector participation, expanded export capacity and long-term competitiveness.
The discussions are expected to examine how policy reforms, investment facilitation and improvements to the business environment can support economic expansion while strengthening the country’s resilience to external shocks.
Investment and private-sector growth take centre stage
A key focus of the summit will be identifying opportunities to mobilise domestic and foreign investment to support Sri Lanka’s next stage of economic development.
Strengthening investor confidence, improving business conditions and developing new sources of economic activity are central to this agenda, particularly as businesses assess opportunities across regional markets and international value chains.
The programme will also address regional economic integration and the development of value chains, highlighting the importance of connecting Sri Lankan businesses with international markets and improving the country’s ability to attract investment into export-oriented industries.
For the private sector, the discussions are expected to provide a platform to engage with policymakers on the reforms and economic priorities needed to expand business activity, improve productivity and support employment generation.
Senior policymakers and international experts to participate
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya is among the keynote speakers scheduled to address the summit, alongside T. Krishnakumar, Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Consumer Products Ltd.
Senior representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Standard Chartered Bank, Zydus Lifesciences and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will also contribute to discussions, bringing perspectives from development finance, banking, healthcare and international business.
The participation of representatives from these institutions and companies is expected to broaden discussions on investment opportunities, sectoral development and Sri Lanka’s position within the changing regional and global economy.
The presence of the President and Prime Minister across the two-day event also places the summit at the intersection of national economic policy and private-sector priorities, providing a platform to discuss the direction of future reforms and investment policy.
Energy, healthcare and digital technology on the agenda
Beyond macroeconomic policy and investment, the summit will examine sector-specific opportunities in healthcare, energy and digital technology.
These sectors are increasingly important to economic diversification, productivity improvements and the development of higher-value business activities. Discussions on energy will be relevant to the cost and reliability of power for businesses, while healthcare and digital technology offer opportunities for innovation, investment and the expansion of specialised services.
The programme will also consider economic resilience and the challenges created by shifting global conditions, reinforcing the need for policies that can support sustainable growth while reducing vulnerability to external disruptions.
A platform for Sri Lanka’s next economic phase
The Sri Lanka Economic & Investment Summit 2026 provides a forum for government representatives, investors and business leaders to assess the opportunities and constraints shaping the country’s economic outlook.
The central challenge is translating economic stabilisation and policy reform into sustained investment, stronger exports, improved productivity and broader economic opportunities.
The discussions over the next two days are expected to contribute to that debate, with attention focused on how Sri Lanka can strengthen its competitiveness, attract capital and establish a more resilient foundation for long-term growth.
