Dipped Products Opens Rs. 4.2 Billion Glove Manufacturing Plant in Katunayake EPZ

KATUNAYAKE, October 13, 2026 — Dipped Products PLC (DPL), the Hayleys Group’s glove manufacturing business, has commenced operations at a new Rs. 4.2 billion manufacturing facility in the Katunayake Export Processing Zone (EPZ), expanding its production capacity for value-added gloves targeting international markets.

The facility began operations on October 8, 2026, as part of the company’s ongoing expansion strategy. The investment is expected to strengthen DPL’s manufacturing capabilities and support Sri Lanka’s efforts to increase exports of higher-value rubber products.

The new plant is positioned to enhance the company’s capacity to serve international demand for value-added gloves, reinforcing the role of rubber-based manufacturing in generating export revenue and foreign exchange earnings for Sri Lanka.

Strengthening Sri Lanka’s value-added exports

The investment marks a further expansion of DPL’s domestic manufacturing footprint and supports the country’s broader ambition to move beyond the export of raw materials towards higher-value industrial products.

By expanding production capacity, the Katunayake facility is expected to strengthen the company’s ability to serve overseas markets while contributing to the development of Sri Lanka’s rubber products industry.

The project also highlights the continued role of export-oriented manufacturing investments in supporting industrial activity and foreign exchange generation.

Global manufacturing and distribution network

Dipped Products operates five manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka and two in Thailand, supported by dedicated marketing and distribution operations in Italy, France, Poland, India and the Middle East.

Headquartered in Colombo, the company has a workforce of more than 18,207 across its manufacturing and plantation sectors, reflecting the scale of its operations within the broader rubber industry.

The commencement of operations at Katunayake adds to this established production network, as DPL continues to expand its manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its position in international glove markets.

The Rs. 4.2 billion investment underscores the importance of value-added manufacturing to Sri Lanka’s export economy, particularly in industries that can leverage domestic production capabilities to serve global markets.
